Where Are You Investing?

This post is part of the 5-Minute Friday Linkup. This week’s writing prompt: Invest

Ready, set go…

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

1 John 2:15-17 ESV

I have a choice where I invest my heart and time and attention. I can invest it all in my own desires for the things in the world.  Or I can invest it in the desires of my Father which are the will of God.

If I decide to invest my love and focus on what is of this world - what my flesh wants and what my eyes see and the pride of this natural life - those things will all pass away along with this world. I will get no lasting return on investment from those things.

But if I give my heart and eyes and time to the kingdom of God and the things of the Spirit of God, I am investing in an everlasting world that will exist forever. And I will reap on my investment throughout eternity.

Which investment opportunity will I look back later and be grateful I chose because I am reaping never-ending rewards?

This choice is mine alone to make.  And we each have that same choice to make for ourselves every day. Where will you and I choose to invest today?

Since a week can have up and down parts, it is good to reflect at the end of the week and just post about your five favorite things from your week. A birthday dinner and party for my niece was a nice break in the week on Wednesday evening with good family time and cause for celebration. I found a beautiful flower arrangement on a local florist site and had them delivered to surprise my niece on her birthday. The flowers were even more stunning than they were on the website, which is not always the case. I also gave her a gift card to her favorite cafe that serves boba tea and sushi she was excited about.  2. An afternoon at the arcade . I had a very unusual afternoon in the middle ...
